How can you make sure that your Easter lily keeps on giving? Here are some tips from Julie McCann-Mulligan, creative director of 1-800-FLOWERS.COM:
Place your plants in indirect sunlight and avoid glaring, direct light. Keep your room temperature between 60-65 degrees, with a slightly cooler night temperature. Do not place the plants near drafts, heating vents, or appliances.
Keep the soil moist while the plants are in bloom, but do not fertilize. Water the plant thoroughly when the soil surface feels dry to a light touch, but avoid over-watering. Do not allow the plant to sit in standing water.
After the flowers fade, set the plant in the sun and water it until the foliage matures. You can move the pot to a sunny location outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Plant the bulbs in a sunny, well-drained garden and they will almost surely bloom for many years.
