Two individuals on the team placed in the top ten competitors. Jonathan Dethloff finished 6th all around, and Ashley Keilman finished 8th all around.
Mathcounts is a nationwide math competition founded by a group of professional engineers with the purpose of increasing the interest and involvement in mathematics among all middle school students.
Northshore is co-coached by math teachers Michelle Hayase and Sheila Henneuse. Henneuse will be going to Washington, D.C. on May 12th to coach the Washington State Team in the Mathcounts National Competition.
WWU's Woodring College of Education annually invites school districts from the state of Washington to submit nominees for "Excellence in Education" awards. Winners are invited to a celebratory luncheon where they are honored.
Criteria for selection includes: meeting high standards of their profession; effort to make a contribution to the larger professional community; effort to remain professionally current; the development and implementation of an exemplary program; heightened social awareness of critical issues facing education; and significant contribution to the improvement of education at the school, district or state level.
Bothell High Principal Al Haynes nominated Hill.
YMCA Youth and Government is a program that meets during the school year to provide the opportunity for young people to experience state government firsthand. Teens write, lobby, and debate their own bills on a variety of issues.
The program will convene in Olympia May 3-6. During this time, Sarah will be responsible for the signing or vetoeing of the teens' bills and a public address with Governor Locke.
