Running and cycling event comes to Carnation

   The Brooks Muddy Ruddy Ride & Run Series is coming to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday, July 23, at 9 a.m. This unique fitness event combines the dual efforts of two teammates who must negotiate an off-road 10K course with several man-made obstacles.

   One buddy rides to the first obstacle, the second runs. Jump, hurdle, climb, or crawl to the exchange point and switch. Keep this up over six miles, and meet up at the finish line for a great party.

   The Series raced successfully through its inaugural cross-country tour in 1999 and has scheduled seven races in 2000. Brooks Sports, Inc. is an international footwear and apparel manufacturer based out of Bothell.

   The course covers a variety of road surfaces around MacDonald Park in Carnation. Participation will be limited to 350 teams. The fee is $50 per team. Proceeds benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). Registration is available at Super Jock 'n' Jill at Greenlake and the FootZone in Redmond and Issaquah.
