Let us keep our land

(Copy of a letter sent to the King County Council)

Dear Council:

Partisan politics aside, I was doing some calling for a Congressional candidate in Duvall. I called 247 households. Most weren’t home, were uninterested, or knew nothing of politics. However the folks that were astute raised one issue with me time and again: CAO.

Of course a U.S. Congressman has nothing to do with your ordinance, however it is an issue that people in the Snoqualmie Valley are well aware of and upset over.

I realize that this issue probably will rally Ron Sims’ supporters in Seattle, and there are many more of them than people in east King County. However he already has their support and frankly will most likely not get the support of people in east King County regardless. Put politics aside — Do the right thing.

Taking property from people who have paid for it is simply un-American. It is wrong and sets a very dangerous precedent. What will be next? Your high property taxes have crippled many elderly people in east King County enough. Many of our new residents are young families who struggle with high property taxes, as well as long commutes around ridiculous construction projects (the bike lane on Novelty Hill Rd.) that you commission and we pay for.

We know we are forsaken by you already. Do the right thing and let us keep our land.
