The Woodinville Reign 16U-Collins fastpitch
softball team took 4th place in the NSA Western
World Series.
The Reign went 5-2 during the week-long tournament,
at one point going 23 consecutive innings without
giving up a run behind pitchers Ally Barrera
(Woodinville) and Whitney Oviatt (Duvall).
Barrera and Oviatt just missed combining on
a perfect game – allowing only one base
runner on an infield hit. Oviatt and Maddie
Erb each contributed game-winning RBIs to break
up 0-0 games in the final inning.
The Western World Series performance caps a
successful 2004 season for the Reign, who took
three tournament championships over the summer.
Jackye Lagen led the team in hits, with Sarah
Dammrose (Woodinville) leading in RBIs.
The team is comprised of softball players from
the Woodinville and Northshore area. They train
10 months out of the year, and participate in
tournaments during the spring and summer. The
Reign is coached by Roger Collins, Steve Mohrweis
and Jim DeWater.
Tryouts for the 2005 Reign 16U team will take
place Aug. 25, from 5-8 p.m., at Woodinville
High School.
