City receives $500,000 grant funding for sewer system project

CARNATION-The city has been awarded a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to help offset costs of building qualified low to moderate income areas of its sewer system.

“This grant represents a great success in our endeavor to build a cost-effective sewer system for our residents, businesses and local government,” said Mayor Yvonne Funderburg. “Specifically, this grant will help to reduce the financial burden for those residential areas that qualified for the program.”

The new sewer system will support existing residences, local businesses, economic revitalization and protect public health and the environment, said City Manager Bill Brandon.
