Painting by Marilyn Webberley
Bothell’s Kaewyn Gallery, at 10101 Main
Street, is hosting an exhibit of works by members
of the Eastside Association of Fine Arts (EAFA)
from Sept. 13 through Oct. 18.
The show features “plein aire” works,
paintings done spontaneously outdoors rather
than in a studio. This form of art was made
popular by French Impressionists during the
late 19th Century when the invention of portable
tubes for paint made it possible to more easily
render images outside the studio.
These works are often characterized by loose
brushwork, expressive compositions, and vivid
color palettes.
The exhibit, to be juried by artist Marilyn
Webberley, will include 50 images submitted
by artists in the 320-member organization.
In addition to paintings, selected works of
compatible outdoor photography will be shown.
The public is invited to an opening reception
on Friday, Sept. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m.
