Students learn about the ‘real world’ during DECA’s annual Duvall Safeway Takeover

On October 31, Cedarcrest High School’s DECA program took part in the annual Breast Cancer Fundraiser/Safeway Takeover.

DECA is an association of students interested in marketing, sales and advertising. The Safeway Takeover was one part of this year’s DECA Week activities. Students sold Italian sodas, fresh caramel apples and breast cancer awareness bands and rings to raise money for breast cancer research.

Besides the fundraising, members also took part in one-on-one training and management in each department of Safeway. Students learned about everything from inventory control to creating and selling floral arrangements.
