about a mural?” |

From
their formal dining room, Woodinville residents
John and Debbie Gillis enjoy a sprawling view.
Colonial homes and a lighthouse dot a distant
island, slender trees with crowning foliage illuminate
light and shadow, red flags flutter from sailing
ships and Cormorants glide in the breeze. But
they don’t gaze at the panorama from a
picture window each time they sit down to dinner.
They don’t need to. Their 5’-foot
by 10-foot mural provides the sweeping vista
of a seaside community typical of Maine in the
early to mid 1800s.
