A long way to the top

Woodinville firefighters raced up 69 grueling flights of stairs in 70 pounds of gear March 5 to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

A record 1,085 participants from across the U.S., Canada and even New Zealand, participated in the 15th annual Scott Firefighter Stair Climb in Seattle’s Columbia Tower.

Woodinville firefighters Kurt McGowen, Chris Hughes, Ron Suggs, Jessie Disch, Paul Peterson and Matthew Durham all participated in the event. Their times ranged from 17 minutes, 31 seconds to 25 minutes, 39 seconds.
