The Woodinville Wranglers Junior Division basketball
team triumphed at the Washington Special Olympics
State Tournament taking top honors in the Junior
Division in a win against the SK Wolves, 38-16.
The tournament was held on Sunday, March 5,
in Wenatchee. After a hard-fought 38-34 victory
at the King County Regional Competition against
the defending 2005 State Champions Renton Blue
Devils, the Wranglers concluded their 2006 season
undefeated through State play.
“I could not be more proud of this
team,” notes Cole Caplan. “They
played well on offense and defense.” Caplan
has coached the team since December and is extremely
proud of the team’s commitment to the
game.
Competitors in team sports at the Washington
Special Olympics State Competitions represent
four regions: north, south, King and east. One
team from each Region advances to the State
level by winning Regional qualifiers. The Wranglers
advanced as the top boys and girls, Junior Division
1 (ages 8-15) team in King County. For more
