Led by three seniors – Allyson Hammontree, Karen Lawton and Whitney Oviatt, this year’s version of Cedarcrest girls basketball had its most successful season. The three seniors and one junior mixed in with 14 underclassmen to field vibrant junior varsity and varsity teams.

The varsity finished with a 14-9 season record. Highlights of the season included a successful and fun travel trip to Victoria for three games and a great deal of bonding, a school record of 10 consecutive victories to begin the season, the first-ever post season victory versus Lynnwood which took the girls to the first-ever district tournament appearance in program history and capping the season with an appearance at the state tournament to accept their award as 3A State Academic Champions.

The girls had a 3.831 team GPA. Karen Lawton and Whitney Oviatt were named 2nd Team All Conference selections and Erica Taylor is an Honorable Mention Conference selection.

The junior varsity team compiled a 15-3 record this season, including a hard fought victory against a varsity squad from The Bear Creek School.

The girls all represented the school, program and themselves in a positive manner and showed a great deal of improvement and competitive spirit throughout the season.

Lori Oviatt and Casey Huie did the book this year. Laurie Quist provided wonderful meals and support and all the youth coaches helped prepare these girls for future successes.
