Learn about the Tolt Dam

Ever wonder why, where and how the Tolt Dam was built? Here’s your chance to find out. A Tolt Dam and Carnation Emergency Preparedness meeting is set for Thursday, March 30 from 7– 8:30 p.m. at Miller’s, 4597 Tolt Ave., across from Ixtapa.

Seattle Public Utilities Tolt Dam expert Laurel Herrington will give a brief history and overview of the dam.

Other speakers scheduled are Deputy Mayor Laurie Clinton, Eastside Fire & Rescue Chief Jon Fallstrom and Kathy Brasch from the Carnation-Duvall Citizen Corps Council.

Presentations will include an update on the city’s “Evac Hill,” tips on preparing for emergencies and the latest on the city’s first responders’ plans for disaster.

The meeting is sponsored by CePAC (Carnation Emergency Preparedness Action Committee) and Miller’s Community & Arts Center.
