Jamie Marsden to be new human resources director for City of Bothell

Effective May 1, City of Bothell City Manager Bob Stowe announces Jamie Marsden as the City of Bothell’s new Human Resources Director.

Marsden comes to the City of Bothell from the City of Gillette, Wyo., where she has served as human resources director since 2002.

From an initial pool of 40 applicants, six were selected to go through the interview process, which consisted of individual and panel interviews with the city manager, city directors and various staff.

The City of Bothell human resources director reports to the city manager and the position’s salary range is $86,184 to $109,320.

“The City welcomes Jamie Marsden to Bothell’s team,” said Bothell City Manager Bob Stowe.

The city manager recently performed a reorganization of the executive staff, which included strengthening the role of human resources by designating it as a city department with a director level position.

“Jamie’s energy, talent, and experience will serve the community well as she works to create strategic partnerships with all levels of the City’s workforce for the benefit of our citizens,” added Stowe.

“I am honored to be chosen to work for the City of Bothell,” said new Bothell Human Resources Director Jamie Marsden. “I am excited to move back to the Pacific Northwest and I’m looking forward to living and working in such a beautiful and vibrant community.”

Prior to the serving at the City of Gillette, Marsden was the San Juan County personnel manager from 1997 to 2002.

She also served as San Juan County’s Clerk of the Board from 1992 to 1997. In addition to Marsden’s government experience, she was also a Business/English Teacher for both Capital High School (Olympia, Wash.) and the San Juan Island School District (Friday Harbor, Wash.).

Marsden’s human resources career highlights include:

  • Facilitated the development and implementation of a new employee performance evaluation system
  • Successfully negotiated five collective bargaining agreements, and
  • Facilitated the design and implementation of a Leadership Development Program, which offers specialized training designed to develop employee leadership skills.
