Urban Nature Project has announced the public
release of the Inventory of Site Resources
for Gold Creek Park. The report is available
on-line at www.seattleurbannature.org.
In 2004, Tara Irvin of the Boys and Girls
Club of King County commissioned Seattle
Urban Nature Project to inventory the natural
resources of Gold Creek Park in Woodinville.
The inventory was funded through a grant
from The Russell Family Foundation. The Boys
and Girls Club of King County operate the
Gold Creek Lodge, a facility that provides
outdoor learning opportunities for youth
throughout King County.
The purpose of the project was to provide
the Boys and Girls Club with baseline information
about the condition of the 35-acre park.
The Gold Creek Inventory provides information
on the soils, topography, hydrology, habitat
types and vegetation of the park, and includes
management recommendations focused on trail
maintenance, invasive species management,
and riparian area restoration.
The maps and information contained in the
report are used as part of the organization’s
efforts to provide environmental education
to King County youth in an outdoor setting.
