Repertory presents Stan Gill in his acclaimed
one-man show “Mark Twain’s Final
Tour.” The show runs from April 28-May
7. Artistic Director Stan Gill celebrates 35
years of performing his one-man evening of
Twain’s hilarious and touching tall tales.
At the turn of the twentieth century, Mark
Twain toured the world. In his seventies by
then, he entertained audiences with his hilarious,
bold and poignant comments on the human condition.
These controversial performances gave his readers
new insight into the nation’s most beloved
author and humorist.
Mr. Twain may recount, if he is so inclined,
his experiences with newspaper interviewers;
cannibals (for whom interviewers have sometimes
been mistaken); foreign tour guides; grandfather’s
old ram; an unfortunate mishap with a glass
eye; and, alas, “the girl who got away.” Huckleberry
Finn may just make an appearance as well.
These are reminiscences biting and bizarre,
funny and sweet. It’s satire in its
most pure and original form.
