| At
the Woodinville City Council meeting of April
3rd, Councilmember Roskind, in a heated discussion
about Brightwater said, “... three of
the council members here and a handful of others
who have personal financial interest in Brightwater...” I
could not let that go and interrupted his comments
to say “I will not be accused sir of
having a financial interest in Brightwater.”
Mayor Von Wald then said “I do not
have a personal financial interest in Brightwater...for
the record, that’s a lie.” At
the end of the discussion he re-canted saying “I
have no belief that Don Brocha or anyone
else at this dais has any financial interest
in Brightwater.” These are verbatim
transcriptions from the meeting tapes.
This is shockingly strong commentary, so
why wasn’t it reported in the Woodinville
Weekly? Why wasn’t Councilmember Roskind’s
comment of February 21st that he was “treading
water” until the next election not
reported? Check my website at www.DonBrocha.Com/Council.aspx
for more examples.
I know the Woodinville Weekly is seen by
some to merely be a “shopper” and
not a “real” newspaper. However
when people in Woodinville read it they expect “real” news,
unfiltered by the editor Karen Diefendorf
or reporter Jeanette Knutson. The examples
I have presented show that their readers
are being short-changed.
I know that this letter will probably result
in a firestorm of letters from the true believers
attacking me, so why write it?
Simply put, editor Karen Diefendorf told
my wife that if I ever wanted to see this
news in the Weekly I had to write a letter
to the editor.
Why would they not report controversial
comments where Councilmember Roskind is concerned?
