City and Target team up for ‘National Night Out’ neighborhood events
Nationwide crime & prevention event Aug. 1

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 7 to 10 p.m., neighborhoods through the United States will participate in an annual crime and drug prevention event called “National Night Out” (NNO). The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) has sponsored the NNO campaign for 23 years and with corporate support from Target, offers “How To Host a National Night Out Event” informational packets to neighborhoods who register by calling (610) 649-7055 or http://www.nationalnightout.org/nno/index.htm.

The City of Woodinville and Woodinville Target have teamed up to support city neighborhoods that want to host an event. Upon request, the City will provide crime and drug prevention materials, NNO promotional items and a visit from Woodinville Police officers to specific event sites. Target has offered a $75 gift card to the first two (2) City of Woodinville neighborhoods who register with NATW and the City.

Written descriptions of proposed NNO events should be submitted to Jason Burt, Crime Prevention Coordinator by Friday, July 14, 5 p.m. Descriptions may be mailed to City of Woodinville, 17301-133rd Avenue NE, Woodinville, WA 98072, faxed to (425) 489-2705 or e-mailed to JasonB@ci.woodinville.wa.us. NNO is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. Participating neighborhoods are encouraged to spend the “night out” with fellow neighbors and local law enforcement. Neighborhoods may want to host a BBQ, parade, block party or flashlight walk.

Informational packets are available at Woodinville City Hall, Carol Edwards Center and the Woodinville Fire & Life Safety District headquarters. NNO events within Woodinville city limits that impact the public right-of-way (i.e. streets) may require a Special Event Permit.
