Leg Torso plays at Duvall’s McCormick
Park on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Start
with an innovative chamber music trio,
add a veteran percussionist/mallet
player,
and finish with a fiery upright bass.
It’s a gourmet musical recipe for
3 Leg Torso, a quintet that performs an eclectic
synthesis of chamber music, tango, klezmer,
latin and world music. Feast your ears on
their exciting sounds in Duvall’s McCormick
Park on Wednesday, August 23 at 6:30 p.m.
David Stabler, writing for The Oregonian,
describes them this way, “3 Leg Torso
is actually five fully figured men, survivors
of classical, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll
backgrounds. They have the same manager as
Pink Martini, and they tell musical stories
similarly flavored from barrios, Paris, Budapest
and beyond, but quirkier.”
Their classically tinged blend of gypsy
folk and steamy tangos exists in a fluid
netherworld between serious art and pop culture.
Come with a sense of musical adventure, and
expect daring, evocative music that could
include blues accordion, a Moroccan jig or
a Scottish Sufi tune.
The Duvall Cultural Commission (formerly
the Duvall Arts Commission) presents free
SummerStage concerts in McCormick Park on
Wednesday evenings from now through August
30. SummerStage is sponsored by the City
of Duvall, 4Culture, the Duvall Chamber of
Commerce, and many generous local business
supporters.
Free kids’ arts and crafts activities,
from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the park, are sponsored
by Cherry Valley Veterinary Hospital and
staffed by Tall Cedars Academy.
Before the concert, be sure to visit the
Duvall Farmers Market adjacent to the McCormick
Park parking lot. Pick up fresh tamales,
churros and a cool drink.
