A
King County jail inmate was pronounced dead
on Wed., Feb. 21, at Harborview Medical Center
at 1:30 a.m.
Medic One was called to the jail
to respond to an emergency medical situation
at 1:40
a.m. on Feb. 20, 2007. The affected inmate
was transported to Harborview Medical Center
where he received medical treatment until
succumbing.
The deceased was a 28-year-old male who
was booked into the jail on Feb. 19, 2007
at 10:55 p.m.
The King County Medical Examiner will conduct
an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
State law requires that the King County Medical
Examiner conduct an autopsy on all in-custody
deaths.
As with any in-custody death, protocol requires
a thorough investigation by the King County
Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention
and an independent investigation by the Seattle
Police Department.
