The
City of Kenmore has announced the appointment
of Nancy K. Ousley to the position of assistant
city manager. Her duties will include being
responsible for performing analysis and initiating
methods to improve City operations and programs,
representing the City before other agencies
and groups as assigned, responding to citizen
requests for information, and assisting other
members of the management team in the performance
of a project or program.
One of Ms. Ousley’s
key job duties will be to assist the city
manager and the
City Council in developing a comprehensive
economic development strategy and will
be working closely with the Kenmore business
community. She will also be involved in
the
process for designing and constructing
the new city hall facility. Ms. Ousley will
provide
oversight for the special events coordinator/communications
position to ensure its continued success.
With more than two decades of government
experience, Ms. Ousley has spent the past
five years as an Assistant Director with
the Washington State Department of Community,
Trade and Economic Development. Ms. Ousley
led the Local Government Division with a
$780 million biennial operating and capital
budget and its wide-ranging programs, including
Growth Management policy services, infrastructure
and capital financing through state and federal
programs, and public safety community program
administration. She was also instrumental
in creating a new capital grant program for
rehabilitating historic courthouses across
the state.
Previously, Ms. Ousley was the Assistant
Director at the City of Seattle Strategic
Planning Office. She managed City activities
in major redevelopment initiatives such as
Safeco Field and other South Downtown redevelopment,
devised a new mitigation payments program
for area-wide transportation improvements,
and worked with major property owners, public
agencies and community members interested
in redevelopment strategies.
Ms. Ousley holds both a Master of Public
Administration and a Master of Social Work
from the University of Washington. She also
acquired a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction
from Washington State University. In 2005,
the Washington Chapter of the American Planning
Association presented her with the Myer Wolfe
Award for Professional Achievement.
