Jeffrey
Possinger has announced that he will not be
seeking another term on the Duvall City Council.
A
councilmember since 2003, Possinger said
he has decided to pursue an opportunity in
international economic development once
his term ends this December.
Possinger, who is currently the mayor pro
tem, served as the acting mayor of Duvall
in 2005 to finish the term of then Mayor
Becky Nixon, who resigned unexpectedly.
Possinger said his focus as mayor was to
bring stability and cohesion back to the
city’s government, and that he was
instrumental in setting the groundwork for
an effective transition to a new administration
in 2006.
“I am proud of what my colleagues
and I have accomplished in the last five
years,” said Possinger, who is now
the senior member of the Council. “Together
we were able to usher our city out of its
six-year moratorium, build a state-of-the-art
wastewater treatment plant, and create policies
to prepare the city for growth and economic
development in the years to come. No individual
in government can take the entire credit
for this – we did it together.”
Possinger added he is proud of making Duvall
a relevant town politically. “When
we are in Olympia, legislators know where
Duvall is now.”
