Sarah
McEnroe’s pitching helped Western Washington
University win its first Great Northwestern
Athletic Conference championship.
Sarah McEnroe,
a Woodinville High School 2006 graduate,
helped Western Washington
University to their first Great Northwestern
Athletic Conference Championship for
2007. The freshman at WWU received special
honors
for her contributions to the team.
McEnroe helped the Vikings to a school-record
34 wins, the first ever GNAC Championship
and the school’s second trip to the
NCAA II West Regional Tournament.
Posting a 12-3 record as a pitcher with
a 2.43 earned run average, striking out 77
batters in 118 innings pitched. As an outfielder,
she hit .315 (23 for 73), batting .364 over
the final 25 games and scoring 15 runs.
Her contributions to Western Washington
University in 2007 earned her the Freshman
special recognition. She was named pitcher
of the week by the Great Northwest Athletic
Conference and later receiving an honorable
mention in the All Conference Team – All
League – All Stars for her work on
the mound and at the plate.
In addition, the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association named her to the NCAA Division
II West Region All Star Team as a utility
player. The selection was made from the teams
on the West Coast, including Hawaii.
McEnroe was the only freshman selected to
the All-Star Team in 2007.
As a child, McEnroe started out in the Woodinville
Little League and later played with the ASA
select team, Eastside Elite 18/U which is
also from Woodinville.
