This little tyke enjoys a peach at the Carnation Farmers Market.

Carnation Farmers Market will celebrate the last day of their fourth season on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 3-7 p.m.

Join the community in celebrating with hourly raffles for ‘holiday gift baskets’ made up entirely of local market products such as soaps and jams, honey, beeswax candles, herbal lotions, chocolates, cheese, breads, fruitcake, lavender bundles, garlic and everlasting flowers. Enjoy the culture of the market with face-painting by Lolly the Clown, Chalk Art for All by Morgan, market food samples and exceptional music with Bill Hill & Burt Keele.

This season has been marked with nearly double the sales and attendance, with an ever-increasing diversity of food vendors. Carnation Farmers Market, sponsored by the non-profit Sno-Valley Tilth, is one of the only ‘all-foods’ farmers markets on the Eastside, and this year was pleased to add cheese, seafood, chocolates and more eastside orchard fruit to the already notable selection of organic vegetables, eggs, meat, varietal honey, wood-fired bread, traditional baked goods, herbs, flowers and nursery plants; most from farms and businesses located within the Snoqualmie Valley, and all from within 100 miles.

The City of Carnation and Hopelink remain outstanding collaborators in the ongoing success of the market providing the site and facilities that make the market possible. Century Tel, Tanner Electric and Miller’s Community & Arts Center provided key sponsorship support, as did a 2007 Community Services grant from King County, sponsored by Kathy Lambert, which helped to fund improvements to the site such as canopies for musicians, educational demonstrations and community outreach, as well as additional signage to be used for years to come.

The Carnation Farmers Market Newsletter will continue via e-mail throughout the winter, providing delicious recipes, tips for sustainable living, commentary, community information and more.
