The following is a list of health classes that will be offered by Evergreen Healthcare for the month of January. Pre-registration is required for all classes. You can do this online at www.evergreenhealthare.org, or by calling the Evergreen Healthline at (425) 899-3000.
- Parenting with love and logic
Learn to set limits, design appropriate consequences for inappropriate behaviors, and form strategies for resolving problems. Recommended for parents of toddlers through adolescents. Four week series begins Jan. 15. $50.
Teens 11 to 16 learn how to handle emergencies and care for infants and children. January 19. $40.
- Community CPR Comprehensive course that covers adult, child and infant CPR. Participants receive CPR card that is valid for two years. Jan. 19, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. $35.
- Infant and Child CPR
Learn to prevent accidental injuries plus CPR, choking management and household safety information. Participants receive CPR card. Jan. 17, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. $35.
For people who already have a CPR card and need first aid training. Jan. 19, 1-5 p.m. $35.
- Community CPR and First Aid
Comprehensive course that covers adult, child and infant CPR, barrier devices, accident prevention and basic first aid. Participants receive CPR and first aid cards good for two years. Jan. 19. $70.
- CPR for health care providers
Includes CPR, airway obstruction, barrier devices and the use of the Automated External Defibrillator. Jan. 24. $55.
- Advanced cardiac life support
For health care providers with advanced life-support responsibilities. Two-part class beginning Jan. 17. $235.
Learn step-by-step techniques that can help you break the habit. Free introductory meeting. Jan. 21, 7-8 p.m.
- Weight loss surgery, is it right for you?
Experts from the Evergreen Bariatric Center will discuss surgical options, postoperative follow-up, lifestyle changes, financial information and nutrition support. Jan. 9, 6-8:30 p.m. Free.
- Managing your cholesterol through nutrition
Learn why good nutrition can help lower your cholesterol, which foods you should be eating, and helpful tips to incorporate those foods into your diet. Jan. 29, 6:30-8 p.m., $10.
Humor specialist Donna Oiland leads a fun-filled discussion on the healing power of humor and how incorporating laughter into your life can help reduce stress and improve coping skills. Jan. 31, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. $10.
Balance activity and rest with Chinese medicine’s seasonal focus and partial arts movements. Improve your health, concentration and flexibility for winter’s rest and activity with gentle movement and meditation. Jan. 28, 7-9 p.m. $10.
- Core Strengthening Techniques
Core strengthening is essential to optimum performance and injury prevention. Learn the benefits of exercises that focus on working the deep muscles of the entire torso and discover exercises that will develop core strength. Jan. 17, 12:30- 1:30 p.m., free.
- Deep Brain Stimulation Experts from the Booth Gardner Parkinson’s Care Center will discuss the latest information on deep-brain stimulation (DBS), understanding the workup, and long-term care with DBS. Jan. 18, 12 – 12:30 p.m., free.
- Healing Hearts
