Expect delays
Due to rain forecast during the week of May 5, the originally scheduled paving project on State Route 524 has been rescheduled to the week of May 12 through 16.
The City of Bothell alerts commuters that there will be temporary lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (schedule subject to change) that will affect both east- and westbound traffic along that route.
Delays may be up to 20 minutes. Commuters are asked to plan accordingly and take alternate routes if possible.
The lane closures are approximately a one-mile stretch between SR 527 and Royal Anne Road (Bothell west city limit).
This is the final asphalt overlay and phase for the SR 524 Widening Project that began in July of 2006. The two-lane roadway was reconstructed into a five-lane roadway with bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides. Along with the additional lanes, a new North Creek bridge was constructed as well as a fish passage culvert on Filbert Creek and sound walls along the north boundary in some locations.
The project is a joint effort between Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Snohomish County and the City of Bothell, and is a portion of the larger corridor improvement project of SR 524 from I-5 (in Lynnwood) to SR 527 (in Bothell). Project cost of the Bothell portion improvements is approximately $10.7 million.
