Schools receive ‘Give Kids a Hand’ grants

The East Lake Washington District of Garden Clubs has awarded Give Kids a Hand grants to schools in five school districts on the Eastside.

The goal of the GKAH program is to support classroom activities in gardening, horticulture, landscaping, or the environment. Funds may be used for plants, supplies, equipment, or enrichment opportunities.

The following classrooms in the Northshore School District were awarded grants:

Moorlands Elementary of Kenmore, Hollywood Hill Elementary of Woodinville, Canyon Creek Elementary and Skyview Junior High School of Bothell.

The following schools in Riverview School District were awarded grants:

Eagle Rock Multiage Elementary of Duvall and Tolt Middle School of Carnation.

The following schools in the Lake Washington School District were awarded grants:

Environmental & Adventure School (EAS) and International Community School of Kirkland, Wilder Elementary of Woodinville

In recognition of this project (12th year) the ELWD Give Kids a Hand program was recently awarded a grant from the Eastside Community Aid Thrift Shop of Kirkland. These funds will be awarded in the 2008-09 school year. The GKAH program is mainly funded by a Silent Auction & Social that will be held this year on October 11, 2008, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue. The public is invited.
