Students taking ‘different educational path’ get their diplomas
Teachers, administrators, parents and guests were moved and enlightened as they witnessed the Riverview PARADE (Parents and Riverview Actively Delivering Education) and CLIP (Contracted Learning Individualized Program) seniors receive their diplomas at their commencement ceremony at Cedarcrest High School on June 9th.
These two very special programs offer a different educational path than the typical K-12 classroom scenario, however their journey shares in the same goal … a well deserved high school diploma.

Tolt PTSA handed out the Outstanding Educator awards for the 2007-2008 school year during the final Tolt staff meeting. The teachers chosen were Tony Minaker and Kent Christensen. The PTSA Executive Board did the honors:
“Mr. Minaker is a teacher who is respected by his students and parents as well. The students truly love his energy and his creative project assignments … even on books that were boring … as we were told. His students felt motivated to rise to the challenges he set daily for them in class, and so appreciated his dedication to detail partnered with an engaging sense of humor.

| Looking for the Carnation Library? It’s now in the senior center |
by Lisa Allen

“People are trickling in,” reported Sno-Valley Senior Center program coordinator Kate Miller last week as she described the first few days for the Carnation Library’s new location in the senior center. “It opened Monday (June 16) and is working out really well. We have plenty of space for book browsing and the computer lab is very nice. We do see some vacant stares as people come in, but our receptionist team is awesome. And we have elevator access so everyone can get there.”
Miller said not much had to be done to get the second floor space ready for the temporary library.
“The library is just using the conference room and computer lab so not much more was needed,” she said. “We can share in programs – the Humane Society is bringing their van in Tuesday, so the kids can share in that. It’s a win – win situation for everybody.”
