County recovery focuses on safety

In the aftermath of the windstorm, power still remains out for many Puget Sound Energy customers in King County. As of Sunday, power had been restored to nearly 50 percent of PSE customers within King County. However, restoring power to all outlying areas of King County may take several days. Additionally, Public Health - Seattle & King County reports a surge in carbon monoxide poisoning and urges residents not to use grills, generators and other gas-operated equipment indoors.

King County emergency response efforts continue, with a focus on getting safety information to the public and providing shelter to local residents who are without electricity, particularly those who are most at-risk. County officials urge residents to follow safety precautions in the coming days as power is restored and county workers continue to clear debris in the area.
