David Aarash Kamran of Kenmore was among 684 students from Miami University who graduated in the summer term. Kamran received a master of music degree.

Sam Luke, Woodinville High School ’07, graduated from Washington State University on May 7 with a double degree in history and English. He was also commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army along with six other Army ROTC graduates and about 25 ROTC graduates from other branches of the services by then Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates who also gave the commencement speech. Luke is currently attending advanced training in the Army engineering division at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

He is in the top 10 percent of his class of 64.

When this 16-week school is done in October, he will be attending parachute training in Fort Benning, Ga.

His permanent assignment is at Fort Bragg, N.C. with the 82nd Airborne.  He is hoping to be able to come home at Christmas.

Sam’s mother is Sherry Wysong of Woodinville.
