Barrow was part of Team USA2 which received a silver medal this year (they received a bronze last year).  He competed alongside his younger brother, MAJ Daniel Barrow.
 
The NATO CIOR (Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers) Military Skills Competition included Pistol, Rifle, Orienteering, Land Obstacle Course, Water Obstacle Course that took place at Quebec City, Quebec from July 18-August 10, 2018.

EvergreenHealth recently welcomed Dr. Venuka Wickramaarachchi (“Dr. Wick”) to its Signature Care practice in Woodinville, where she joins a team of concierge medical providers within EvergreenHealth’s extensive network of primary care practices.

Dr. Wick brings experience implementing individualized treatment plans for patients of all ages, with an emphasis on preventive and evidence-based medicine. Most recently, she served as a family medicine physician at Providence Medical Group in Monroe and is currently pursuing a fellowship in integrative medicine. Dr. Wick earned her medical degree from the University of Latvia and completed her residency at the New York Medical College Family Medicine Residency Program at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in New York.

A board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Wick provides holistic, personalized and compassionate care while promoting the importance of mindfulness, nutrition and pursuing fulfilling hobbies. She practices the full spectrum of family medicine, including office-based surgical procedures, such as joint injections, IUD placements, and minor dermatology and gynecological procedures. According to Dr. Wick, her philosophy of building a personal, meaningful connection with each of her patients is inspired by her own family’s close relationship with their medical provider.

UW Professor Anita K. Krug named UW Bothell interim vice chancellor of academic affairs

University of Washington Bothell Chancellor Wolf Yeigh has announced Anita K. Krug as the interim vice chancellor of academic affairs, effective Aug. 15.

Krug will fill the position of chief academic officer for the University during a search for a permanent vice chancellor of academic affairs.

Krug is the D. Wayne and Anne Gittinger Professor of Law at the University of Washington School of Law. A member of the faculty since 2010, she served as the interim Toni Rembe Dean of the School of Law in 2017-18 and as the law school’s associate dean for research and faculty development from 2014 to 2016.

Yeigh has worked with Krug on the UW Board of Deans and Chancellors and on the steering committee of UW 2050. “I am excited that she will bring yet another diverse viewpoint to our campus leadership team in this time of transition,” Yeigh said.

A UW Bothell search committee co-chaired by Gowri Shankar, business professor, and Phil Akers, Vice Chancellor of Advancement and External Relations, has been gathering background materials in advance of the search beginning this fall. Susan Jeffords, the former vice chancellor for academic affairs, accepted the position of provost at Portland State University.

Auction of Washington Wines Raises $4.2 Million

The Auction of Washington Wines (AWW) celebrated its 31st annual charitable wine events at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery in Woodinville, August 16 – 18, and raised more than $4.2 million. AWW surpassed their goal to raise $3.6 million this year. Proceeds from the events benefits Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) and Washington State University’s (WSU) Viticulture & Enology Program.
