The Northshore Senior Center in Bothell will host the following lifelong learning classes this fall:
Tell Your Own Story. Your life story is one of the most important gifts you can pass on to your family and friends. In this workshop, you will learn how to find the key points in your life and write a memoir you can share with others. You will gain invaluable insights into your own life. Join us at Northshore as we record and share these remarkable stories. Instructor: Gloria Campbell. $75 member/$150 nonmember. Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m., Oct. 7 - Dec. 1 (no class Nov. 11.)
Living in a Global World. Why do I often feel like a foreigner in my own country, or even in my own town? Migration movements and transnationalism create the situation of “strangers” with different cultural backgrounds living side by side. This often promotes the feeling of estrangement so common among us. In this class, we’ll talk about cross-cultural examples from Latin America (Mexico and Brazil) and Africa (Rwanda, the Sudan, Kenya and Nigeria.) Instructor: Mary Schweitzer. $40 members/$80 nonmembers. Tuesdays, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., Oct. 6 - Oct. 27.
Into the Modern. We’ll look at the entire 19th century in art, examining the changes in style leading up to the post-impressionists. Styles considered will be the Romantics, Luminists, Impressionists and Art Noveau. Artists to be highlighted are Goya, Turner, Millet, Corot, Monet, Pissarro, Lautrec and Gauguin. We will look at the factors that led to changes in style, opening the door to what we now consider modern art. Instructor: Terry Busch. $40 member/$80 nonmember. Second and fourth Wednesdays beginning Oct. 14 and ending Nov. 18, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Falling in Love with Modern Art. Instructor: Marianne LoGerfo. Free to members. Thursdays, Sept. 23 - Nov. 12, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Great Decisions. Leader: Eugenie Higgins. Free to members. Tuesdays beginning Oct. 6, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
