Monroe Arts Council to host Cajun-style fundraiser

The Monroe Arts Council hosts its annual ARTi Gras Masquerade Ball fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Evergreen Fairgrounds 4-H Building #501. Lose those mid-winter blues with this evening of New Orleans-style celebration with a Cajun dinner, dancing to live music by renowned Zydeco band Filé Gumbo, live and silent auctions, and a costume contest! Proceeds benefit projects supported by the Monroe Arts Council, including the continuing renovation of the historic Wagner Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased online at

The preceding Thursday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Saaski Gallery in Monroe will host the ARTi Gras Juried Art Show, featuring original pieces submitted by local artists. Refreshments will be served. Come meet the artists and supporters of the arts community. The public is welcome to this free event. The Saaski Gallery is located in the Research International Building, 17161 Beaton Road S.E., Monroe, WA 98272.
