Last Thursday the CXC squad hosted its only home XC meet of the season at Blue Heron Golf Course in Carnation.
First off, a big thanks to Blue Heron for allowing us to use their course as our home course. We get compliments every year from the other schools about running at the golf course and this year was no different.
Thanks also to CHS teachers Case deVries and Cesar Sanchez for their help. And a special shout out to CHS teachers Peggy Filer and Perry Garrison and Vice Principal Ray LaBate for coming to watch.
In spite of the fact that we held out some athletes due to injuries, today was our most complete meet of the season. From top to bottom, most everyone was running their fastest times of the season. More importantly, I thought that we competed well, running tough when we needed to.
Our athletes of the meet were Ian Fay, Lars Candland, Madi Shinn, Stephanie Busch, Noelle Viger and Chloe Cairns. All of them ran really good races. I also would like to mention Grady Lehto, Duncan Zuvich and Greta Klaiber.
The girls raced first and our girls finished first in the team scores. Madi Shinn was our fastest girl finishing in 3rd place. Her time puts her tied for sixth on our CHS top 10 list for the Blue Heron course. Ruby Farias, Kiana Ward, Alicia Krivanek and MaryCate Babcock were our remaining four scorers. The boys also finished first in the team race. Ian Fay finished in 2nd place with Cameron Hammontree in 3rd place.
Ian’s time puts him fourth on our CHS top 10 list for the course. Isaac Harper, Vincent Dams and Gunnar Schultz were our remaining scorers.
