The following area students were among the 1,575 students who were named to Biola University’s fall 2016 dean’s list. The dean’s list honors those with a grade point average of 3.60 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credit units and whose cumulative grade point average is at least a 3.20.

WHEATON COLLEGE

WHEATON, Il –  Wheaton College student Kayla Roberson of Woodinville, Washington is a member of the 2016-2017 women’s swimming team.

Wheaton College student Audrey Jensen of Woodinville, Washington was a member of the 2016 women’s soccer team.

The Wheaton College women’s soccer team reached the final round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Championship. The team concluded the 2016 season with a 12-8-0 overall record.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time. MASTER BUILDERS ASSOCIATION BOARD PRESIDENT

Woodinville native Mike Walsh of Terrene Homes named 2017 board president at Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties
At the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties’ (MBA) annual gala, Mike Walsh of Terrene Homes (terrenehomes.com) was installed as the 2017 MBA Board of Directors’ president. His term begins January 1, 2017.

Mike Walsh, a Woodinville native, has seen significant growth in the region over the years. His career in construction began in 1987 with an Eastside civil contractor.
He eventually progressed from heavy civil construction to residential land development. In 2008, he helped form the team that is today Terrene Homes and has been developing lots and building new residential homes throughout all the major Eastside cities.

Northshore Natural Leaders Program receives Human Services award

BOTHELL—Northshore School District’s Natural Leaders Program, and specifically Natural Leaders themselves, received the 2016 Outstanding Human Services Program award from the North Urban Human Services Alliance (NUHSA) at its annual meeting held Dec. 6 at Shoreline City Hall.

Applause - Bronze Award

Three members of local Girl Scout Troop 45199 recently earned their Bronze Award by making improvements to the signage at the Cottage Lake YMCA Odyssey Ropes course in Woodinville. Breanna Condron, Madison Binek and Fiona Welsford (left to right) implemented a plan, reached out to several cross-country agencies and partnered with the YMCA to get the signs made and installed. The Bronze Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve.

Evergreen State Fair takes home WA Fair Association Photography Awards

The Evergreen State Fair collected eleven ribbons for photography at the annual WSFA Convention
 
The Washington State Fairs Association annual convention came to a close October 29, 2016 in Vancouver, Wash. with The Evergreen State Fair taking home 11 ribbons from the photography contest, including the top B&W photograph. The Evergreen State Fair entered 43 photos from six photographers: Chantal Waltman, Molly Ottele, Cheri Moss, Joshua Von Jentzen, Amanda Gauthier and Brielle Dodge. Molly Ottele’s photo of Ed Miller holding a piglet at the sow and litter display was the B&W champion of the entire competition.
