Spring is here and it’s time to get out and fish Woodinville!

There are still great trout fishing opportunities in area lakes such as Cottage Lake. Fishing for trout is a great way to introduce your kids to the great sport of fishing in the outdoors. The lakes were stocked with plenty of fish which means they will keep the kids interested and keep them busy. You can check in with the local sporting goods stores located in downtown Woodinville to get a very simple setup that will help you be productive with your kids at the lake. Remember to get the required fishing license while picking up your gear.

June 1 is the Skykomish River steelhead opener and the river is looking good. With this warmer weather over the last few weeks an early snow melt came and went and the river is back to the emerald green that all steelhead fishermen love. The forecast from Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for the Skykomish steelhead is very much the same as last season with good returns expected. That means a three to seven fish day on average for Screamin’ Reels Guide Service’s customers. We fish ultra-light tackle for these amazing sea run rainbow trout that average seven to 12 pounds. The method used to catch these fish is called free drifting which means we cast our baits towards shore and drift down the quiet river and move from hole to hole. When the fish pick up the bait, an easy hook set is all you need then hang on as the fish put on an acrobatic fight which lasts five to 10 minutes per fish. These fish are amazingly fast and can run from one side of the river to the other in just seconds! Give us a call to book your exciting day on the river with Screamin’ Reels!
