Sidewalk construction begins

  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff

Construction is currently underway on Northeast 145th Street to install a sidewalk along the north side between 138th Way NE and Woodinville-Redmond Road NE to provide pedestrians a safe walking path between the Chateau Woods neighborhood, and the Woodinville Tourist District. The city has contracted with Road Construction Northwest, Inc. for the work.

Construction began on August 21.

Work has consisted of clearing brush and debris from the site, removing a large ailing maple tree from the corner of NE 145th Street and Woodinville-Redmond Road NE and excavating for a retaining wall along the northern edge of NE 145th Street. Next week, the retaining wall will be completed, and the contractor will begin grading for the new sidewalk. After the sidewalk has been constructed, the contractor will repave the roadway between 138th Way NE and Woodinville-Redmond Road NE.

Work is projected to be completed by the first week of September. Work will occur during the day, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will require one lane of NE 145th Street to be periodically closed.

One lane will remain open to traffic, but traffic delays along NE 145th Street are expected. The City and its contractor will make every effort to minimize the impact to traffic during operations. The construction project will be shut down three hours before major concerts or events occurring in the project area.

The project update and street vicinity map can be found on the city’s website at www.ci.woodinville.wa.us/CityHall/ProjectRoads.asp.
