  • Written by Department of Natural Resources and Parks
A damaged pipe carrying treated, disinfected Class A reclaimed water from the Brightwater Treatment Plant to the York Pump Station in Redmond overflowed into the Sammamish River last Wednesday afternoon.

Class A reclaimed water is approved for irrigation and is safe for human contact. The overflow contained no raw sewage.

A community member called King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division around 3:45 p.m. to report an overflow near the Woodinville Pump Station, located at 12900 Woodinville/Duvall Rd in Woodinville.

County employees responded quickly and were able to stop the overflow by 4:20 p.m.

Staff notified regulatory agencies about the overflow and will work as needed with permitting agencies and jurisdictions on restoration.
