The City of Woodinville has purchased a portion of the property commonly referred to as the “Woodtrails” property. The newly-acquired 30-acre property is located in the Wellington neighborhood west of NE 202nd Street.
The City Council authorized the $1,130,000 purchase at its March 18, 2014 Council meeting. The sale closed on May 6, 2014.
The acquisition ends a seven year legal battle between the City and Phoenix Development Inc. related to several proposals for single family home development on the property. The case reached the Washington State Supreme Court which, in 2011, upheld the City’s decision to deny two rezone applications submitted by Phoenix Development. Most recently, the developer submitted a smaller proposal to develop another single family home project on the site. With the City’s acquisition of the site, the new development application was withdrawn.
