With the holiday season upon us, many of us look to keep family traditions alive while staying on the lookout for new ones. This Thanksgiving one of our own local companies, Tortoise & Hare Race Management, will be hosting a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot at Wilmot Gateway Park. This 5k run/walk event benefits the WHS Wrestling Booster Club.
In addition to timing running and cycling events around the Puget Sound, Tortoise & Hare has been developing a platform by producing running events in partnership with local charities. With T&H handling event logistics, the non-profit can focus their energies on fundraising. Having already proven to be a successful fundraising model, the 2nd annual Capes for Courage raised over $30,000 for the Northshore Inclusion Program.
Founded by George and Liz McKinnon, Tortoise and Hare and their sister company, Woodinville Running Company, a for-profit business, have the goal of promoting fitness, family and giving back to the community.
Pre-registration is open until November 21st and the first 300 registration receive the race finisher medal. With a race start time of 9 a.m., there is race day registration, but you must register by Nov 1 to get the inaugural race t-shirt.
