Mount Rainier Climber Event - August 17

  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff

Michael Banner, will be speaking Woodinville Christ of Christ on August 17 at 7 p.m. on climbing Mount Rainier every year from age 17 to age 66.  During those years, he took all the  various routes, and in addition to the 50 times to the summit are numerous failed attempts due to weather or climbing team member, sometimes just short of the summit.  Because he loved sharing the experience, he particularly enjoyed taking those with limited experience, even novices, willing to go through the training and conditioning to make or at least attempt the journey to the top. Though others may have climbed it more, he has seen the changes in the mountain, the climbers, and the gear over half a century. Dennis Madsen, a longtime friend and former CEO of REI, says, “Mike is the only person I would want on my rope.”
