Chief of Police Mid-Year Report to the City Council

The Woodinville City Council met on Tuesday, September 18 for their final meeting of the month. After the standard roll call, flag salute, and approval of agenda in order and content, councilmembers welcomed members from Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  for the sole special presentation of the evening.

WSDOT’s presentation was on the SR 522 Paradise Lake Road Interchange project. Their goal is to develop an improved interchange at the SR 522 and Paradise Lake Road interchange that meets the needs of the community and traveling motorists and incorporates community feedback. The presentation noted that the project was invested in providing easier access to the Maltby Café and other surrounding businesses. The project will decrease congestion and collisions in addition to improving access to numerous local businesses, churches, and schools. Additionally, travel time through will be shortened.

Success in Smiles at the 2018 Evergreen State Fair

The 110th Evergreen State Fair concluded on Labor Day, reaching their third highest attendance in Fair history with 346,045 visitors.
 
Success isn’t always measured in record breaking numbers of people says Fair Manager, Hal Gausman. “We look at the number of smiles and memories created here to judge if it was a good Fair, and we had a great year.”

Traffic?#!@ Road Construction?#!@

As many of you know (if you've kept up to date on the Woodinville City Council stories we've published over the past year), there are a number of road construction projects within the City of Woodinville. 
These projects (unfortunately) impact traffic AND when there is traffic it definitely has an effect on everyone's mood!
 
The roundabout project on NE 171st has been a cause of some heartburn for a few local residents and we thought we should provide an update.

Local Lifeguard Rescues Student at Lake Washington

IMG 0054Shawna Howard, graduate of Bothell High School and swim instructor at McMenamins Northshore Pool, was jet skiing with her Dad, Steve Howard, on Lake Washington on September 7th when a small boat outside of the UW Canoe facility called her over. There was a UW Korean exchange student in the water after their canoe overturned in the water. The second canoe had already taken in two of the students in their canoe and had no room for the remaining student who could not swim. Shawna effected a "Jet Ski" rescue until the UW rescue boat could arrive several minutes later.

City Council votes for Jorge Meza to join the Planning Board

The Woodinville City Council met for the first time this month on Tuesday, September 11 following their summer recess. To begin, Mayor James Evans followed the Role Call and Flag Salute with a Special Presentation on the Remembrance of September 11, 2001. The Council and attendees joined Mayor Evans in a moment of silence as a video played depicting the names of the individuals who lost their lives during the attack on the World Trade Center on that harrowing and tragic day 17 years ago.
