The Woodinville Baseball Club 15-and-under Pony League team made quick work of the Maple Valley Coyotes at Bothell High School — go figure — last Wednesday with a five-inning 15-5 win to up its impressive record to 18-9 at the time.

“We’ve got a good group of kids, a couple from Redmond and a few from Inglemoor and a few will be missing tonight because of other commitments,” head man Jeff Young said, prior to the ball game.

The future Falcons — or at least some of them — scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning on four singles and two errors, added four in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth to send the visitors packing early.

Starting pitcher Kevin Ouk went the short-distance in a “complete game” for the win, allowing five hits, five runs — three unearned. He walked one, hit one and struck out two.

Morgan Curry, Ethan Young and Ryan McCurry got two hits apiece.

Up 12-2 with three outs to get with the 10-run rule looming, Ouk relinquished a leadoff single and an absolute bomb for a homer to dead left by a big Maple Valley kid and then another run when Woodinville kicked it around to make it interesting as the score ballooned to 12-5.

Then, in the bottom of the fifth, McCurry chopped an infield single, Gray Jensen walked, Ouk got aboard on an error as did Matt Walker to score a run.

Justin Hedge’s single to center scored another and put the winning run on third.

When Hedge stole second base, the throw went awry and the winning run scored.

Sean Jensen leads Woodinville in batting with a .477 average, and Matt Walker is hitting .420.
