Woodinville hired Mark Folsom to be the new boys’ varsity basketball coach, replacing James Rowe who took the same job at Lake Washington after 10 years  leading the Falcons.Folsom, a 1992 graduate of Woodinville, spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Boise State, Portland State and Seattle Pacific up until 2002.

He told the Seattle Times he had recently been involved with the Redmond youth basketball program coaching his kids.

“I really want to come in and bring a different energy and a different focus and really kind of change the culture to where the basketball kids view themselves as basketball guys,” he said.

Woodinville, which has never made the state playoffs in boys’ basketball, went 5-15 last season.
