The Head of the Charles is the largest regatta in the world.  Eight thousand rowers participate over two days in Boston on the Charles River.

Boats from all over the country and some boats from other countries compete.

The regatta consists of a 5K timed race with closely staggered starts, over an extremely challenging narrow and winding river course passing under several tight bridges.

The Junior Boys 8+ from the Sammamish Rowing Association located in Redmond on Lake Sammamish competed and placed second.

This is the highest finish for any Sammamish Rowing Association boat at the Head of the Charles.

The Junior Boys 8+ included coxswain Lia Roberds, J.D. Laurence-Chasen, Johannes Gees, Andrew Wisegarver, Kyle McKenny (Woodinville High School), Will Spencer, Dilan Bower, Sam Goertz and Matt Essig,

Coaching this team is Kelly Foster.  They came across the finish line of the 5K course with a final time of 15:55.093
