With big wins at Regionals last weekend, the Class 4A state basketball show moves to the Tacoma Dome beginning Thursday and there’s quite a local flavor.
Inglemoor senior Kelly Conroy and sophomore Deja Strother each scored 20 points as the Lady Vikings started fast and never let up against Bellarmine Prep at Jackson High School in Mill Creek, cruising to a 68-42 victory.
Sophomore forward Alex Hafen added 13 in Inglemoor’s 11th consecutive victory.
The Lady Vikes are 21-2.
Things were a little tighter — including the rims — for the Bothell boys in its 61-55 win over Bethell at Rogers High School in Puyallup.
Senior snipers Zach LaVine and Perrion Callendret led the Cougars (now 21-3) with 19 points apiece, but it took the UCLA-bound LaVine 25 shots to do it, including misses on 8-of-9 three-pointers.
Junior post Josh Martin contributed 13 points and 16 rebounds for Bothell, which led by 10 at halftime.
Pairings for the state tournament had not been set by press time, but the Bothell boys will be in the mix with top-ranked Garfield, Newport, Jackson, Arlington, Curtis, Richland and Central Valley.
It’s a return engagement for the Cougars, who went two-and-out last year.
The Inglemoor girls are joined by top-ranked Mount Rainier, Mead, Gonzaga Prep, Arlington, Skyline, Lake Stevens and Kentwood.
