On June 15, 90 Woodinville area residents gathered at the Carol Edwards Center to receive new ranks in Taekwondo, a Korean form of martial arts. Among the crowd were nine children (pictured, left to right: Brighton Reed, Daran Anand, David Villarreal, Ezra Drivdahl, Noah Drivdahl, Evan Economou, Louis Nguyen, Daniel Hirano, Henry Pallette and Master Forest West) receiving the highly coveted rank of Black Belt. The students practice 2-3 days per week training in kicking and striking techniques, sparring, board breaking, traditional forms, and weapons at West Family Martial Arts in Woodinville for approximately three years to earn a Black Belt.
