Season Opener - Falcon Comeback Stuns Bainbridge
The Woodinville High School Lacrosse Season opened March 10th with perennial powerhouse Bainbridge Island coming to town.   This non-divisional matchup would reveal much about early season predictions for both teams, especially for the Falcons.   Newly minted head coach Pete Crowley has awaited the chance to lead the Falcons and starting against Bainbridge was a clear challenge.
The game started with the excitement and attention of a late-season playoff match.    The stands were full and the sidelines ringed, but the Falcons came out flat.   Bainbridge opened the season the night before against Mt. Si and was not suffering first game jitters.   The Spartans picked up goals with mid-season form, elevating their attack and dropping their midfielders down to the goal.  The Falcons were slow to adapt, and their frustration showed as they picked up penalties early.   The Falcon defense closed down many Bainbridge opportunities, but Woodinville miscues on clears often gave the ball back to the Spartans.

For Ali Forde, Playing in Germany was Transformative Experience

  • Written by Derek Johnson
Ali Forde laughs when thinking back to her Woodinville days. She was ultra competitive and any failure on the court was galling. (Especially for a team with a shot at the 2012 State Title).
Coach Scott Bullock would call time out and gather his players on the sideline. Forde rarely bit her tongue.
“I was kind of a butthead when we’d come to the bench,” Forde said. “Scott would tell us something and I would say `No! It’s completely different out there!’ I was stubborn.”

Mark Wahlberg helps propel Cooperstown trip fundraiser

While filming on location in Bogota (and being visited on set by Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos), actor Mark Wahlberg looked into the camera and gave a shout out to some boys from Duvall.
“Hey guys, Mark Wahlberg here”, he said. “I’m asking you to please support the U-12 Duvall Valley Bombers as they raise money for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play baseball at the Hall of Fame Mecca at Cooperstown, New York. Good luck, have a great time, God bless you all.”

The Duvall Valley Bombers are a select baseball group of eleven players at 12 years of age. Five kids hail from Duvall, four from Woodinville, one from Snoqualmie and one from Carnation. They’ve been playing together for years and are capping off this era of their lives by competing this August in Cooperstown, New York.
