Carnation School Named Best School

The Eastside’s 425 Magazine makes it an annual event when it comes out with it’s Best OF…issue. The restaurants, surgeons, museums don’t hold a candle to Stillwater Elementary School in Carnation. That school was named the best public elementary school in the 425 area code.
“We didn’t know anything about it until we got a call from the magazine saying that we were finalists and requesting a picture,” according to Principal Jack Madigan. The school didn’t hear anything else until the May issue came out featuring Stillwater as the best public elementary school, Chinook Middle School and Bellevue High School, both in Bellevue, were named as the only other public schools in the issue.
The magazine cited Stillwater’s “personalized academic growth,” and “passionate employees” as the reason for the nod.

Madigan agrees, explaining, “teachers work hard to get to know kids really well and tirelessly support the kids 180 days a year.” He also gave nods to the PTA which donated $20,000 this year to teachers to support students.
The school has 510 students in K through 5th grades. Madigan has spent the last 7 years of his 29-year education career as principal of the school.
