The Emerald City Pioneers basketball team won a national tournament in Anaheim on July 22nd.

Zach Taylor, a senior at Cedarcrest High School, plays point guard for the team. They played 10 games, losing only one; in an overheated gym, filled with several basketball courts and many college coaches scouting the teams.

There were 64 teams in their bracket. In the final 32 they beat Cal Supreme, then Eastern Washington with 16 teams left. They went onto the final 8 and beat the Clutch Players (Ore.), then IEBP (Calif.).

The championship game saw them pitted against the top team and the tournament host team, Double Pump Elite (Calif).

Seth Berger, of Ballard High School, hit a buzzer-beater 3-point shot to win the game, in overtime.

Zach was instrumental at the foul line and played hard to help his team to victory. It was a fantastic tournament to watch! Congratulations to all the boys!
